Retro Vibes & Coastal Heights: Our Family Weekend at Crows Nest Caravan Park
Last weekend, we hitched up our trusty 20-year-old caravan and headed to the North Yorkshire coast for a family getaway. We decided to try somewhere new this time: Crows Nest Caravan Park, located between Filey and Scarborough. Honestly? It was a fantastic choice.
Home Away from Home
Even though our caravan has seen two decades of adventures, it still feels like the perfect way to travel. At Crows Nest, we opted for a full-service hard-standing pitch, which made everything so much easier for a family setup. The site itself is great—the kids had plenty of space to play and burn off energy, which is always a win in my book.
Capturing the Coast from Above
Whenever I managed to grab a quiet moment, I headed out with my drone. The coastline near Filey is stunning from the air. The highlight, however, was spotting the local seals. They are such charismatic animals!
I made sure to keep a respectful distance with the drone to avoid scaring them. For the close-ups, I switched to my camera with a 135mm lens. By cropping the photos later, I managed to get some incredible detail of the seals lounging on the rocks without ever disturbing their peace.
The Scarborough Vibe
We also spent time in Scarborough itself. There’s something unique about the atmosphere there—it’s a classic British seaside town with a charm all its own. From the sandy beaches to the friendly locals, the hospitality was exactly what you’d expect from a trip to Yorkshire.

Final Thoughts
Whether you’re in a brand-new motorhome or a vintage caravan like ours, this part of the world is a must-visit. Great views, wildlife, and quality family time. We’ll definitely be coming back!
