Wedding Group Photo Planner

How long will the formal group photos take?

Tick the groupings you want, set the minutes for each and choose a time budget. The planner adds a transition buffer, tells you if you are over, and gives you a list in a sensible order to hand to the best man or an usher.

How the tool works

Each grouping has a name, a number of people and a time in minutes. The starting figures are examples only, so change them. The total is the sum of the minutes plus the transition buffer between each pair of groups. You can edit names, add your own groupings up to 25, and remove any you do not need.

The suggested order puts the largest group first and then works down, so most guests can leave the photos early. If the total goes over your budget, the page lists which groups to drop or shorten from the end of the order, and gives a per-group time that would fit.

The copy list is written for the best man or an usher. Add their name and, for each group, the names of the people to gather. Long lists tend to overrun, so agree the must-have groups with the couple before the day.

Questions

How many group photos should I plan?

That depends on the family and the time available. Many photographers keep the list short and agree it with the couple beforehand. Use the budget field to see what fits.

Why largest first?

Large groups involve the most guests. Doing them first lets people go back to the drinks reception while smaller groups carry on.

Why is the number of groupings limited to 25?

A very long list is hard to run and usually overruns. The limit keeps the list manageable, and you can swap groups in and out by ticking them.
